This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including educating patients on proper dental and orthodontic care, as well as preparing operatories and equipment for clinical procedures. The successful candidate will consistently deliver high-quality patient care in accordance with RCDSO standards, Ontario Public Health guidelines and all applicable Health & Safety, Employment & IPAC regulations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the dentist with daily clinical duties and procedures
- Maintain accurate patient records, take radiographs and coordinate appointment scheduling
- Ensure all clinical areas are clean, organized and free of clutter or unnecessary materials at all times
- Maintain storage areas in a clean, well-stocked and orderly condition
- Accurately input charting and prepare treatment plans within the digital dental software for patient presentation
- Demonstrate proficiency with the iTero 3D Scanner, including completing scans efficiently (within approximately 7 minutes)
- Monitor and manage dental supplies and inventory on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
- Foster strong patient relationships through effective communication before, during and after treatment
- Address patient concerns promptly and professionally, implementing appropriate service recovery measures when needed
- Support the clinical team by ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterile, disinfected and in proper working condition
- Prepare operatories fully in advance of patient appointments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including logs and binders
- Uphold overall practice cleanliness and organization
- Attend monthly staff meetings and continuing education sessions
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
- Promote and ensure full Health & Safety compliance across the team
Qualifications:
- Certified Level II Dental Assistant
- Experience with iTero (intraoral scanner)
- Experience with Curve Dental Software is considered an asset
- Current certifications in IPAC, First Aid/CPR, AED and WHMIS
