The Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is looking for an Educational Assistant in High School Specialized Education Programs to support the summer school operations. The number of openings may increase based on enrollment.
Qualifications:

Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma or relevent academic post-secondary education

Must have recent and verified experience and proficiency academically supporting high school curriculum (Math and Science), grades 10-12 up to and incuding 30-1
Requirements:
- Able to understand and support students academically in Math and Science (up to and including 30-1)
- May be required to support English and Social studies (up to and including 30-1)

Support students' growth in the areas of cognition, communication, physical and social development

Support and/or implement teacher directed programming
- Work collaborative under guidance of teacher, CST and other member of the multi-disciplinary team

Implement behaviour management and educational strategies that facilitate student learning

Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies

Observe student behaviour with focus on achieving positive behavioural/educational outcomes and mitigate/prevent negative ones

Provide high level of structure to facilitate completion of required learning outcomes

Provide support in use of adaptive and learning technologies using a variety of devices and associated programs

Successful implement the Positive Behaviour Plan(PBP), if required

Manage student behaviour using strategies learned through NVCI certification (Specific requirement only)

Able to work with students with Autism or complex medical needs

Provide school directed indoor and outdoor student supervision
Employee is expected to work with behaviours related/associated with conduct, obsessive/compulsive, trauma and stress related, severe chronic depressive, feeding and/or eating disorders etc. Other behaviours related to ADHD, emotional/behavioural, learning and speech & language-related disabilities, etc may be encountered.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Reference Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check. FMCSD will contact past and present employers for references. All FMCSD employees are expected to be computer literate; this includes fluency with e-mail, Internet and MS Office.
