We are seeking a few experienced care aides who have a nursing background (either from Canada or from home country) to support a young senior male who has just received a lung transplant. He is currently in hospital and is expected to return home in June. This position will involve some training while he is still in hospital and then we are trying to arrange 2 or 3 caregivers to split the week to provide 24/7 care once he returns home. It is expected that this will be a temporary live-in position lasting 3 to 6 months.
One of the duties will be to drive the client to VGH a few times a week for regular appointments and the client will have his car available, so we are looking for caregivers who have a valid driver's license (but your own car is not needed).
Other than accompaniment to medical check-ups, most of the other duties include meal prep, light housekeeping and overall checking of vitals and other forms of monitoring. The client will not be discharged until he can handle ADL's on his own, and so it is expected that only light or stand-by assistance will be needed with ADL's. Please apply to learn more.
