Tool Room Lead Hand
Tool and Die Maker/Mold Maker/Machinist
As a Tool Room Lead Hand at Whitney Plastics you will be responsible for producing molds for our Plastic Thermoforming machines. You will design, construct, and test molds to precise tolerances. Tools and equipment used to manufacture the molds, include 3D printers, CNC machines, jigs, fixtures, and sanders. You will work from 3D file specifications to create the molds, and may use CNC machines, or other methods to create new products as required. In addition, you will be responsible to maintain thermoforming machinery and punch press machinery, this includes trouble shooting any breakdowns and quickly repairing to ensure minimal production down time.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Creation: Developing and building custom molds using 3D printers, CAD software and various machine tools.
Maintain and Repair: Maintaining and repairing existing machinery to ensure production deadlines are met.
Testing and Quality Control: Ensuring that molds meet specifications and function correctly to produce required product for customer.
3D Print file Interpretation: Downloading and setting up 3D printers as required, may require manipulation of file received to obtain desired print result.
Machine Operation: Operating and setting up thermoforming and punch die machines as well as setting up various tools, cutting machines, including CNC machines.
Documentation: Maintaining records of mold designs, modifications, and maintenance activities.
Essential Skills:
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of 3D printing, machine operation, and precision measurements.
Knowledge in basic Hydraulics and Pneumatics
Problem-solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to tooling and production processes.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with management and other members of the manufacturing team.
Computer Skills: Proficiency with CAD software and CNC programming. 3D Print X files, .stl .obj
Working Environment:
Work in a toolroom environment within a manufacturing facility.
Work with others to provide assistance, teach and or guide as required.
Work can be physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
