In anticipation of expanding our operating hours, we are looking to hire several new employees to help manage our growing business.

We are seeking part-time (20-30 hours per week) Baristas to join our front-of-house team. This role will work onsite at our location at 692 St. Anne’s Road. The role requires part-time availability for Day shifts (Monday-Sunday), and some Evening shifts (Thursday-Saturday). The Day shiftworking hours are expected to be from early mornings to late afternoons.
Key responsibilities include preparing and serving hot and cold beverages, such as our premium, custom-blended espresso and other espresso-based beverages like lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, and much more. The role will also provide menu recommendations and answer customer questions about menu items and ingredients; in addition to serving and accurately processing payments using a point-of-sale (POS) system. The role will work closely with a small team of baristas and a back-of-house team of cooks and bakers.
Responsibilities:
- Warmly greet and welcome customers, take orders, and accurately process payments using a point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Provide menu recommendations and answer customer questions about menu items and ingredients, in addition to serving orders.
- Prepare and serve a variety of espresso based hot and cold beverages according to recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain coffee and expresso equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and blenders.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and customer seating area by regularly cleaning countertops, equipment, and floors; and help with dishwashing and cleaning as needed.
- Set up and stock the workstation with necessary ingredients, tools, and supplies before and during shifts.
- Exemplify The Forge’s philosophy of excellent customer service and friendly attitude at all times.
Qualifications:
- Barista experience in roles consisting of espresso-based beverages and equipment.
- Basic understanding of different coffee and expresso blends, brewing methods, and drink preparation.
- Possess a friendly, polite, and engaging personality with a commitment to customer care and satisfaction.
- Multitasking and organizational skills to manage multiple orders simultaneously during peak hours.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods, and lift up to 35 lbs.
- Reliable and punctual for early morning start times.
- A positive attitude, the ability to take direction and follow instructions, and work consistently and efficiently as part of a team.
Compensation:
Starting hourly wage is $18.00 per hour, or more based upon having supervisory or leadership capability. The Forge has a no tipping policy.
