Field Technical Services Engineer

We are currently seeking a Field Technical Services Engineer to join our Field Operations team. This is an office-based position with opportunities to support field projects and provide technical expertise throughout project planning, fabrication, and execution.
Position Summary
As the Field Technical Services Engineer, you will provide engineering support for field construction, maintenance, and turnaround projects. Working closely with Field Operations, Engineering, Production, Quality, and Project Management, you will develop technical solutions, prepare engineering documentation, assist with specialty equipment design, and provide project support from initial planning through field execution. The role includes technical coordination, occasional site visits, and collaboration across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide engineering and technical support to Field Operations and project teams
· Design and size specialty equipment required for field projects
· Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, technical documentation, and project packages
· Review project specifications and ensure compliance with applicable codes and customer requirements
· Support fabrication by participating in shop walkdowns and monitoring project progress
· Conduct field visits during project planning, execution, and completion as required
· Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) for field projects
· Assist with repair procedures and technical problem solving
· Support ABSA design registrations and related documentation
· Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Safety, Estimating, Supply Chain, and Production departments
· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, standards development, and procedure updates
· Perform other engineering duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with APEGA
· Engineering experience within industrial fabrication, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, or field services
· Strong understanding of applicable engineering codes and standards
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
· Strong organizational and project management skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Proficient with Microsoft Office and engineering documentation systems
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
· Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
Work Environment
· Full-time position based in Edmonton
· Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
· Friday: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM
· Hybrid work options may be available based on business needs
· Primarily office-based with regular exposure to the fabrication shop and occasional travel to customers and industrial sites
