PlayQuest is looking for someone who would like the opportunity to take on the responsibility of constructing and installing water play features, including spray nozzles, water jets, and other components, at public parks and recreational facilities, requiring expertise in plumbing, construction techniques, and adherence to safety regulations to create functional and enjoyable spray parks.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Site preparation: Surveying the installation area, excavating, grading the ground, and preparing the foundation for the concrete spray pad, water line vault, and water tank.
- Aggregate base installation: placing and compacting crushed aggregate base for the spray pad and other slabs.
- Plumbing installation: Laying underground PVC pipes, connecting water supply lines, and installing necessary valves and fittings for water flow control as well as recirculation mechanical components.
- Spray feature water inlet/nozzle anchor placement: Precisely positioning and installing various types of water inlet anchors to be embedded in the spray pad concrete slab, according to design plans.
- Electrical wiring: Running electrical cables for control systems and lighting within the spray park area.
- Control system setup: Installing and programming control panels to manage water flow, activation times, and safety features.
- Concrete work: Forming, rebar placement, pouring concrete vaults for spray feature lines, pads for spray features, spray pad equipment, tanks, and pathways within the spray park area.
- Spray feature installation: Precisely placing above ground spray features, assembling and installing large overhead spray features.
- Testing and commissioning: Performing water pressure tests, adjusting nozzle spray patterns, and ensuring proper operation of the spray park system.
- Safety compliance: Operating and using equipment safely, attending safety meetings, adhering to local building codes, plumbing regulations, and safety standards for water play areas.
- Maintenance and repairs: Providing post-installation support for minor repairs, troubleshooting, and adjustments to the spray park system.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Technical skills: Strong understanding of plumbing systems, including pipe fitting, valve operation, and water pressure control. PVC pipe and fitting experience.
- Decision making skills: Ability to make sound decisions impacting construction and installation tasks.
- Organizational skills: Ability to organize materials, equipment and tools for efficient and effective installation and construction activities.
- Construction knowledge: Experience with concrete work, excavation, aggregate base construction, and site grading.
- Electrical basics: Ability to read electrical diagrams and perform basic wiring tasks.
- Blueprint reading: Accurately interpreting construction plans and spray park designs.
- Physical abilities: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Teamwork: Ability to thrive in a small crew environment, as well as collaborating with other construction crews to complete the project efficiently.
- Safety awareness: Commitment to following safety protocols and regulations on construction sites. Ability to identify hazards and take action to prevent injuries.

Relevant certifications: Certified Plumber's License, Certified Backflow Prevention Tester, Construction Safety Training
Class 5 License required
