Site Description: Ontario Shores is a public hospital providing a spectrum of specialized assessment and treatment services to those living with complex and serious mental illness.

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
Hours: Continental Days (0800-2000/2000-0800)
Payrate: $20.39/hr.

Job Description:

Conduct routine patrols of hospital buildings, parking lots, patient areas, entrances, and exits.

Monitor CCTV, alarm systems, and access control systems.

Control access to restricted areas and verify authorized entry.
-
Respond to medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security incidents.
-
Assist with emergency evacuations and crisis situations.
-
Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
-
Offer directions, information, and general assistance.
-
Use de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts and disturbances.
-
Investigate incidents and security concerns.
-
Complete incident reports, occurrence reports, and daily logs.
-
Communicate using radios, telephones, and computer systems.
-
Liaise with hospital staff, police, fire, and EMS personnel.
-
Enforce hospital policies, procedures, and visitor protocols.
-
Identify and report safety hazards and suspicious activity.
-
Maintain a safe and secure environment for all occupants.
-
Assist persons in distress or requiring support.
-
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Prerequisites:
-
Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
-
Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
-
Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella , Covid Vaccine two doses, and two step TB skin test
-
English (oral and written) fluency is a must
-
One year experience in security, or law enforcement is an asset

Able to be clean-shave for N95 mask fit testing

Legally authorized to work in Canada

Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset

Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
-
Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
