Job description
We are seeking a Senior Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EI&C) Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering complex industrial and water treatment projects. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and execution of electrical and instrumentation systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The successful candidate will play a key role in electrical and instrumentation design, equipment selection, technical documentation, customer interactions, and commissioning support.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical & Instrumentation Design
Develop electrical and instrumentation designs for industrial and water treatment facilities.
Prepare and maintain instrument lists, automatic valve lists, datasheets, termination drawings, and installation details.
Design low-voltage industrial control systems in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Create and review single-line diagrams, load lists, I/O lists, panel layouts, schematics, and network architectures.
Select instrumentation and electrical equipment with a strong focus on operational safety and system reliability.
Design control panels and specify equipment for hazardous locations, including Class I Division 2 environments.
Engineering & Project Execution
Review, interpret, and provide technical input on engineering documentation such as P&IDs, General Arrangements (GAs), design guidelines, and technical specifications.
Interpret customer and contract requirements and ensure designs comply with project specifications.
Perform engineering calculations and prepare supporting technical documentation.
Manage assigned engineering scope, budget, and schedule while proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
Support production and manufacturing teams during project execution.
Collaboration & Client Interaction
Lead and participate in cross-functional engineering discussions and project meetings.
Support proposal and bid activities by providing technical expertise and design input.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and provide commissioning support when required.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers to ensure successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical and industrial control system design.
Strong experience designing complex low-voltage industrial control systems in compliance with UL and CEC standards.
Experience designing control panels and selecting equipment for Class I Division 2 hazardous locations.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Valid driver's license and passport.
Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 15%) for client meetings, site visits, commissioning activities, and collaboration with other offices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA system design and programming.
Understanding of industrial control systems and automation technologies.
Knowledge of low-voltage power distribution system design.
Understanding of hydraulics and fluid mechanics principles.
Basic knowledge of water chemistry and water treatment processes.
Strong customer-focused mindset with the ability to balance technical and business requirements.
Experience working in engineering environments supporting industrial process facilities.
Expected Compensation Range:
50K-110K The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.
Canadian Experience Requirement:
No Canadian work experience is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of previous Canadian experience.
