Key Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain equipment in accordance with company standards and manufacturer guidelines
Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on vehicles and heavy equipment, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools, schematics, manuals, and industry best practices.
Use hand tools, power tools, and welding/fabrication equipment to service, rebuild, assemble, and disassemble machinery and components.
Conduct regular maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance and operational readiness of all equipment.
Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance activities, and inspections.
Read and interpret schematics and technical documentation to assist in diagnostics and repair work.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, maintaining a strong safety culture on-site.
Collaborate with team members to promote safe, efficient work practices.
Provide training and guidance to junior mechanics or laborers as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman certification
Strong knowledge of industry equipment, mechanical systems, and problem-solving techniques
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
Ability to operate manual transmission trucks is required
Valid and clean Class 3 driver’s license is an asset; Class 5 with Air Brake endorsement also considered
Experience performed on pressure and/or vacuum trucks is an asset
Valid safety certifications required: CSO, H2S Alive, and First Aid
Physically fit, capable of lifting 50 lbs or more on a regular basis
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality workmanship
