Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Office Assistant to join Providence Allergy and Immunology Centre. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Allergy medical office, providing exceptional support to both patients and the Allergist. This position requires proficiency in electronic medical records, familiarity with medical terminology, and excellent communication skills.
Duties
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments and follow-ups, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) using systems such as Plexia.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries from patients, providing information about services and assisting with any questions.
- Perform front desk duties including greeting patients, checking them in/out, and handling necessary paperwork.
- Assist with insurance verification and processing patient information for billing purposes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the office environment to ensure a welcoming atmosphere for patients.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure effective communication regarding patient care and office operations.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred, at least 2 years of experience. Previous experience working with an allergist is an advatage.
- Competency with electronic medical records systems. Previous experience with Plexia is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Excellent phone/e-mail etiquette and customer service skills to handle inquiries professionally.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficient in using office equipment and technology, including phone systems and computers.
- MOA certificate.
