Sara Transport Ltd. is seeking experienced and professional Single-Truck Owner Operators to join our growing fleet.
We are looking for owner-operators who take pride in their equipment, maintain high safety standards, and are interested in building a long-term partnership with a carrier that understands the realities of hauling throughout Alberta, British Columbia, Kitimat, and the Northwest Territories.

We are NOT looking for:
- Fleet owners
- Trucking companies
- Multi-unit operators
- Dispatch services
- Drivers who do not own their own equipment
Applicants must personally own and operate the truck they are applying with.
CompensationBase Mileage Rate
$2.15 per mile
Based on a diesel fuel prices.
Fuel Adjustment Program
To provide a fair and transparent compensation structure, mileage rates are adjusted based on diesel fuel prices.

- Edmonton → Northwest Territories
- Edmonton → British Columbia
- Edmonton → Kitimat & Area
- Alberta→ Saskatchewan Area
Home time available depending on freight requirements and lane assignments.
Equipment Requirements
- Class 1 tractor required
- Applicant must own and operate the tractor
- Newer model equipment preferred (2020 model year or newer)
- Equipment must be well-maintained, mechanically sound, and present a professional appearance
- Trucks with major component replacements (engine, transmission, etc.) will be considered
- Equipment must pass Sara Transport Ltd.'s mechanical and safety inspection prior to onboarding
- Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compatible and compliant
Driver Requirements
- Valid Class 1 Driver's Licence
- Minimum 3 years verifiable highway driving experience
- Winter driving experience required
- Mountain driving experience required
- Current 5-year commercial driver's abstract (issued within 30 days)
- Criminal record clearance
- Drug and alcohol clearance
- Safety vest and steel-toed boots
- Physically capable of handling freight using electric and manual pallet jacks
Safety & Compliance
Safety is our highest priority.
All owner-operators must:
- Use Motive ELD
- Maintain full Hours of Service compliance
- Complete required inspections and maintenance
- Operate safe, clean, and professional equipment
- Follow company and customer safety policies
- Maintain professional communication with dispatch and customers
- Complete all company required training and access required training
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment safely and professionally
- Transport essential goods throughout Western Canada and Northern communities
- Load and unload freight when required using pallet jacks
- Maintain communication with dispatch
- Protect customer freight and company reputation
- Deliver exceptional service on every load
- Ensure product integrity and cold-chain compliance on all temperature-controlled shipments
- Record, monitor, and document reefer temperatures before departure, during transit, and upon delivery
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of reefer equipment and immediately report any defects or temperature deviations
- Maintain accurate temperature records and supporting documentation as required by customers and company policies
- Immediately report any reefer malfunction, temperature variance, product damage, or load integrity concern to dispatch
Trailer Program
Sara Transport Ltd. provides company-owned trailers to approved owner-operators.
All owner-operators operating under Sara Transport Ltd. will be required to meet the company's insurance and onboarding requirements and be added to the company's insurance policy prior to operating.
Owner-operators are responsible for:
- Performing daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of all assigned equipment
- Maintaining trailer cleanliness and overall condition
- Reporting all mechanical defects, damage, and safety concerns immediately
- Exercising reasonable care to prevent damage caused by negligence or misuse
- Returning company equipment in good condition, allowing for normal wear and tear
- Complying with all company trailer use, maintenance, and reporting procedures
All assigned trailers remain the property of Sara Transport Ltd. and are subject to periodic inspections. Owner-operators will be required to sign a Trailer Use & Interchange Agreement and complete a Trailer Condition Report upon assignment of company equipment.
