Truck Driver Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently operate a commercial motor vehicle to transport goods and materials to designated locations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards while operating the vehicle
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment and secure it properly for transportation
- Plan routes and schedules to meet delivery deadlines and optimize efficiency
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and delivery details
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on the vehicle as needed
Qualifications:
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a truck driver or in a similar role
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the operation of commercial motor vehicles
- Ability to operate various types of trucks and trailers, including flatbeds, box trucks, and refrigerated trucks
- Excellent driving skills and knowledge of safe driving practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
