Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Wood Finishing Technician to join our finishing shop. Our operation focuses on pre-finishing wood cladding, siding, and lineal lumber products.
The ideal candidate has experience applying coatings to wood or other materials and understands proper surface preparation, coating application, and quality control. Painting or spray finishing experience is valuable, as many of the same skills apply to wood coatings.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is mechanically inclined, takes pride in quality work, and enjoys solving problems in a production environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare wood surfaces for finishing including sanding, cleaning, and inspection
- Apply stains, paints, and protective coatings to wood cladding and lumber products
- Assist with creating finish and stain samples to match product specifications
- Monitor coating quality and consistency during production
- Inspect finished material and correct defects where required
- Operate finishing equipment and shop tools safely
- Troubleshoot finishing or coating issues when they arise
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Assist with handling lumber and finished materials as required
Qualifications
- Experience applying paints, stains, or protective coatings
- Experience working with wood products, lumber, siding, or cladding is an asset
- Painting or spray finishing experience is highly transferable
- Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving ability
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a production shop environment
- Forklift experience or certification is an asset

Expected hours: 80 per week
Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Construction painting/or other relevant: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Forklift Licence (preferred)

- Port Coquitlam, BC (preferred)
