Job Type: Permanent – full-Time
Education: completion of secondary school is required
Driver’s License: A valid driver's license with a clean driving abstract is mandatory.
Language: Functional English proficiency is required to communicate with clients/team members and log reports.
Wage: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour

Work Location: Manitoba and Thunder Bay
Work Conditions: Ability to travel frequently between client work sites, work independently on the road, and lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs.) when handling equipment components.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in equipment or automotive repair, preferably with janitorial machinery.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in automotive repair or similar fields.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and schematics.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work with various maintenance equipment.
- Previous experience with assembly, diagnostics, and troubleshooting is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
POSITION INVOLVES FREQUENT TRAVEL. WORKER WILL REPAIR AND SERVICE EQUIPMENT ON CLIENT SITES ACROSS MANITOBA AND THE THUNDER BAY REGION.
Job Summary
The Service Technician – Small engine and equipment mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of commercial cleaning equipment, including scrubbers, propane burnishers, and other janitorial machinery. This role is essential in ensuring optimal equipment performance and longevity. It requires strong mechanical aptitude, ability to work independently, and exceptional attention to detail to maintain operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Job duties
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on cleaning equipment, including battery-operated and propane-powered machines.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, replacing or repairing faulty components using hand and power tools.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to optimize equipment performance and extend lifespan.
- Assemble, disassemble, and reassemble machinery as necessary.
- Accurately read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and maintenance guides to ensure precise repairs.
- Keep thorough records of all repairs, maintenance services, and part replacements to support tracking and compliance.
- Collaborate with the Service Manager to ensure availability of necessary parts and supplies.
- Assist with parts inventory management by tracking frequently used components and suggest re-orders as needed.
- Engage professionally with clients and team members, providing clear updates on equipment status and estimated repair times.
- Educate clients on basic maintenance practices to help prolong equipment performance.
- Report recurring issues to the Service Manager to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in small engine repair, ideally in automotive or janitorial equipment.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical schematics and manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
- Ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 45 kg (100 lbs.)
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently and provide detailed updates on service progress.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate repairs and maintenance.
- Travel to various client sites in the Manitoba and Thunder Bay region when needed.
- Ability to maintain organized records of services performed.
- Follow all safety protocols when handling equipment and hazardous materials.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure safe handling of machinery during repairs and servicing.
