Position Overview: As a Dispatcher at Musket, you will play a critical role in coordinating and managing the movement of our trucks and drivers amongst our container, dryvan and reefer trailers. You will be responsible for optimizing routes, scheduling pickups and deliveries, and ensuring timely and efficient operations. Your excellent organizational and communication skills, coupled with your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, will be key to your success in this role. The shift is Friday - Monday for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule truck routes to maximize efficiency and meet customer requirements.
- Monitor and track truck locations and driver activities using GPS and other tracking systems.
- Communicate with drivers, providing clear instructions, updates, and support throughout their routes.
- Respond to and resolve any delivery-related issues, such as delays, accidents, or breakdowns.
- Collaborate with Customer Service team and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and on-time deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of dispatch activities, including driver logs and hours of service.
- Continuously monitor and update shipment status to keep customers informed.
- Proactively identify potential problems and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions.
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in logistics or transportation management is a plus.
- Proven experience as a dispatcher or in a similar logistics role within the transportation industry.
- Strong knowledge of trucking regulations, routes, and load planning.
- Proficient in using dispatch software and tracking systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and information to drivers.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data entry skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
