Position Overview
Structural Welding Projects is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to lead and oversee structural steel, welding, construction, and ironwork projects across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
This dynamic role combines project management, field supervision, client communication, and construction coordination. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection, welding operations, and general construction practices, with the ability to effectively manage responsibilities both on-site and in the office.
The Project Manager will be responsible for directing projects from planning and procurement through execution and final completion, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with the highest quality standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage structural steel and welding projects from start to completion
- Coordinate field crews, welders, subcontractors, suppliers, and deliveries
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and welding symbols
- Prepare material take-offs and coordinate material procurement
- Conduct site visits and oversee project progress
- Communicate directly with clients, engineers, consultants, and contractors
- Prepare schedules and monitor project timelines
- Assist with estimating, quotations, and project planning
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and company procedures
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Support field operations and site supervision when required
Qualifications Required
- Minimum 4 years of experience in construction project management, site supervision, structural steel, or welding operations
- Strong knowledge of structural steel, steel erection, welding, and ironwork
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
- Valid Ontario G Driver’s License
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness to travel throughout the GTA
Preferred
- Diploma or post-secondary education in Construction Management, Business Management, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or a related field
- Experience working with structural steel contractors, welding contractors, or general contractors
- Knowledge of CWB welding standards and construction safety requirements
- Experience with estimating, scheduling, procurement, and customer management
Vehicle Requirements
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle for travel between project sites
- Mileage and approved travel expenses will be reimbursed
- Company vehicle may be provided when required
Schedule
- Full-Time or Part-Time
- Typical working hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Additional hours may be required depending on project schedules and site requirements
