Berkshire Siteworks is looking for an organized, professional and ambitious individual to fill the role of Heavy-Duty Mechanic. The focus of this role is to ensure efficient, safe and quality repairs to our growing fleet.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, skid steers, etc.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of trucks, trailers and other miscellaneous equipment.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and inspections to ensure optimal performance of equipment.
- Complete repairs and maintenance both in the shop and in the field.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot electrical systems within heavy machinery and other equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
- Adhere to safety protocols while working on equipment to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Assist in the training of junior mechanics or apprentices as needed.
Qualifications:
- Red Seal Certificate Preferred.
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar role (3+ years).
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required to minimize equipment down time.
- Ability to lift up to 60lbs.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's license may be required for transportation of equipment between job sites.
- Welding/fabrication experience is a plus.
