ROLE SUMMARY
The People Leader owns the full human capital engine at Stepping Stone Masonry. This is not a traditional HR administrator role, it is a builder's role. You will design, implement, and continuously improve every system that finds, develops, retains, and elevates the people who deliver our craft. We hold our work to an artisan standard. We hold our team the same. The People Leader is the steward of that standard and the coach who ensures our crew managers uphold it every day, on every site, in every interaction with our clients. Culture is not a poster on the wall. At Stepping Stone Masonry, it is defined, measured, and enforced.
PRIMARY OUTCOME
Build and retain a high-performing, accountable team. Every system, process, and initiative owned by the People Leader connects back to this outcome. A headcount that exists on paper is not a success. Competent, engaged, reliable people showing up and delivering quality stonework…..that is success.

QUALIFICATIONS Required ◆ 3–7 years of experience in HR, people operations, or talent management ◆ Demonstrated experience building or owning hiring processes, onboarding programs, or performance frameworks ◆ Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, OHSA, and workplace standards ◆ Ability to work across both office and field environments, comfortable on active job sites ◆ Exceptional organizational skills and a track record of follow-through ◆ Direct, clear communicator who can deliver difficult feedback constructively ◆ Self-directed and systems-oriented, able to build structure where none currently exists Preferred ◆ Experience in a skilled trades, construction, or contracting environment ◆ Familiarity with WHMIS, Working at Heights, and Ontario safety compliance requirements ◆ Experience coaching or developing frontline supervisors and crew managers ◆ CHRP designation or equivalent HR credentials considered an asset
WORKING CONDITIONS ◆ Based in Port Carling, Ontario with regular presence across active Muskoka job sites ◆ Seasonal construction environment, peak activity April through November ◆ Combination of office-based administrative work and on-site engagement with field crews ◆ Occasional travel within the Muskoka region required
