Overview
Vancouver Waldorf School is seeking a sewing teacher for 2 hours per week, beginning September 2026.
The ideal candidate brings strong practical sewing and handwork skills, warmth and patience with children, and familiarity with (or genuine curiosity about) Waldorf education, where handwork is a core part of the curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver weekly sewing lessons aligned with the Waldorf handwork curriculum
- Prepare materials and maintain the handwork supplies and workspace
- Support students at varied skill levels with patience and encouragement
- Communicate with class teachers as needed regarding student progress
Qualifications
- Experience teaching sewing or handwork to children; Waldorf handwork training an asset but not required. Successful completion of a criminal record check is a condition of employment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively instruct and motivate students
- Creativity and patience to work with diverse learners of varying ages and skill levels
- Ability to demonstrate sewing techniques clearly and safely
- Passion for teaching arts and crafts, with a focus on fostering confidence and skill development in students
Salary Details
0.16 FTE (2 days / week)
$8,610 - $14,130 CAD / annually
