About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver to support a mother experiencing new cognitive impairment related to type 1 diabetes. She remains mobile and independent with personal care but needs daily assistance with memory prompts, meal preparation, medication management, and light household tasks. She requires someone who can provide gentle redirection and ensure her safety while respecting her independence.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare nutritious meals appropriate for type 1 diabetes management • Provide medication reminders and assistance to ensure proper diabetes care • Offer memory prompts and gentle redirection for cognitive support • Perform light tidying and housekeeping tasks • Provide transportation for errands and medical appointments • Monitor safety and provide supervision as needed • Maintain clear communication with family members about daily activities and any concerns
What We're Looking For:
• Experience with cognitive support and memory care • Knowledge of type 1 diabetes management and dietary considerations • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation • Ability to provide medication reminders safely • Meal preparation skills with attention to diabetic-friendly nutrition • English speaking • Someone who makes the client feel comfortable and brings positive energy • Calm, patient demeanor with ability to take initiative • Reliable and consistent presence • Strong communication skills with family members • Respect for client's independence while ensuring safety
Schedule:
Daily support is needed most days of the week. This is the family's first time receiving professional care services, and they're looking for someone who can provide consistent, dependable care.
