Safety Manager
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Safety with daily alignment from local operations, the Safety Manager drives a proactive safety culture across the organization. This role oversees the development, implementation, and management of site-specific safety programs. The ideal candidate is a collaborative relationship-builder who partners effectively with front-line supervisors, operational teams, and various trades.
Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor Safety Coordinators across the assigned territory.

Field Partnership: Collaborate with Operations to mitigate hazards, address unsafe conditions, and implement corrective actions.

Risk & Compliance: Identify workplace hazards, conduct safety audits, and oversee industrial hygiene testing and equipment certifications.
*
Incident Management: Lead incident investigations and deliver timely reports on injuries, property damage, and near-misses.
*
Training & Programs: Maintain safety policies, oversee emergency readiness plans, and facilitate safety training programs.
*
External Liaison: Coordinate with external regulatory agencies and support safety-related legal proceedings as required.
Role Requirements

Experience: 7–10 years of progressive health and safety experience in a construction, industrial, or unionized environment.
*
Credentials: Professional safety designation (CRSP, NCSO, CSS, or CSO) is a strong asset.
*
Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and construction regulations.
*
Skills: Strong team leadership, root-cause analysis, and communication skills across all levels (from trades to management).
*
Execution: Excellent organization skills to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; proficient in MS Office.
