General Summary
The Controller provides assistance and leadership aimed at helping EnQuest Energy Solutions Inc. achieve its organizational objectives. This individual ensures that the Finance Department and EnQuest Energy Solutions Inc. are in compliance with all applicable federal and provincial legislation.
Partnering with Operations and Finance, the controller is directly responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business objectives. The controller will play a crucial role in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and decision-making processes.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements
- Analyze financial results, compare with budget, and provide insights and recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare and present financial reporting packages and summaries for the General Manager.
- Own and directly execute core accounting functions, including AR/AP, payroll, adjusting journal entries, month-end close, and related reconciliations.
- Plan and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations.
- Oversee the accounts receivable and payable processes, ensuring timely collections and payments.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including variance analysis and scenario planning.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year university in a related field (Finance preferred).
- CPA designation with 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally within a growing business; experience in a digital marketing or professional services environment is an asset.
- Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting operations and financial reporting in a hands-on capacity.
- In-depth understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and tax compliance.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and translate it into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Navision, advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills, and other supplementary reporting tools.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive, analytical mindset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working cross-functionally.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of a finance function and, over time, help shape and build a finance team as the company scales
