Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Excavator Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, and graders, with a strong understanding of construction site safety and mechanical systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects such as paving, horizontal drilling, and general excavation tasks, contributing to the successful completion of large-scale infrastructure projects.
Duties
- Operate excavators and other heavy machinery such as dozers, loaders, graders, and backhoes to perform excavation, grading, and site preparation
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal functioning
- Assist with horizontal drilling and paving operations as needed
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment at all times
- Coordinate with project managers and team members to ensure timely completion of tasks
- Operate commercial vehicles for transporting equipment or materials when required
- Support other construction activities involving heavy equipment operation in various terrains and conditions
Requirements
- Proven experience operating excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, and other heavy machinery in a construction setting
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Knowledge in reading and understanding blueprints
- Valid commercial driver’s license preferred for transporting equipment or materials on-site or between locations
- Knowledge of cut grade for basement and trenches
- Strong understanding of safety standards in construction environments
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and adhere to project schedules
- Relevant certifications or training in heavy equipment operation is preferred
