Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals in an assisted living setting. This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and promoting their overall well-being. The Support Worker will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for seniors and individuals requiring special care.
This position is a temporary, full-time position. The position will begin at 40 hours per week for a period of 1 month, then will most likely turn into a part-time position offering 16 hours per week. Several months after that, it may turn into a temporary, full-time position covering for a current employee's pregnancy leave (approximately 12 to 16 months). The position may become permanent as our staffing needs evolve.
Duties
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients.
- Monitor and report any changes in clients' health or behavior to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with daily housekeeping duties to ensure a tidy space for clients.
Requirements
-Valid and current First Aid / CPR certification required.
-Valid and current Vulnerable Sector Check required.
-Valid and current Food Handler's Certificate or equivalent required.
-Negative Tuberculosis skin test required.
-Current Covid-19 vaccination required.
- Previous experience in senior care, home care, or caregiving is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and practices is preferred.
- Familiarity with assisted living facilities or nursing homes is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Compassionate attitude towards providing care for individuals with varying needs.
- Ability to perform cleaning tasks as part of maintaining a safe environment.
- Experience in meal preparation that accommodates dietary restrictions is a plus.
- Must be willing and able to work on weekend afternoons (3pm to 11pm).
