The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Exterior Carpenter / Crew Leader to join our team. In this role, you will be the on-site leader responsible for bringing outdoor projects to life. You will manage a small crew, oversee the daily build process, and ensure that every fence, deck, and pergola meets our high standards for quality and safety.
This is a hands-on leadership position. You will be working alongside your crew — reading plans, laying out the project, and executing the carpentry work while guiding and mentoring your team members.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Build: Manage the day-to-day on-site construction of fences, decks, pergolas, and other exterior structures.
Crew Leadership: Direct, train, and work alongside a small crew of carpenters and laborers to ensure efficient and safe project completion.
Quality Control: Ensure all work is performed to plan specifications, local building codes, and our company's quality standards.
Project Layout & Execution: Read and interpret plans and sketches. Perform accurate layouts, material take-offs, and complex carpentry tasks.
Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with management and homeowners regarding project progress and any on-site issues.
Site Management: Keep the job site clean, organized, and safe at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional carpentry experience, specifically with exterior structures (fences, decks, pergolas, framing).
- Previous experience leading a crew or acting as a lead carpenter/foreman is highly preferred.
- A valid Driver's License is required. Having your own reliable vehicle/truck is strongly preferred.
- Must possess a comprehensive set of personal hand tools and basic power tools for carpentry.
- Strong understanding of framing, leveling, squaring, and finishing exterior woodwork.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in various weather conditions, including lifting heavy materials (50+ lbs).
- Professional, punctual, detail-oriented, and a positive team player.
