Parts Specialist – Commercial Truck & Trailer

We are hiring an experienced Parts Specialist for a well-established and fast-growing truck and trailer repair company in Mississauga.
This role is critical to maintaining efficient shop operations and requires a strong work ethic, proven back-counter experience, and the ability to source commercial trailer parts in a non-VIN environment.

Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday–Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM | Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Compensation: $50,000 – $70,000 annually?

Key Responsibilities
Parts Operations & Back Counter Support
- Source, procure, and track commercial truck and trailer parts with speed and accuracy
- Support technicians directly at the back counter, identifying parts based on specifications (non-VIN)
- Stage parts for repair jobs and ensure timely availability to maintain workflow
- Assist with parts inquiries (internal and external), including pricing and availability
Inventory Management (Critical)
- Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts, receiving, stock control, and system updates
- Inspect incoming shipments and manage discrepancies, returns, and warranty claims
- Monitor stock levels and ensure availability of critical and high-usage parts
- Manage cores, returns, and obsolete inventory
Service Department Coordination
- Work closely with technicians and service advisors to determine parts requirements
- Provide accurate timelines and updates on parts availability, delays, or backorders
- Prioritize urgent requests in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Vendor & Procurement Management
- Source parts from multiple vendors, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely delivery
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Maintain accurate purchase orders and procurement documentation
Systems & Administration
- Maintain accurate records in inventory and work order systems
- Support transition and adoption of updated inventory/computer systems
- Generate reports related to inventory, usage, and costs as required
Requirements & Qualifications
- 4–6+ years of parts experience, preferably in commercial truck and/or trailer environment
- Proven back-counter experience supporting technicians in a service shop
- Hands-on experience sourcing commercial trailer parts (non-VIN based)
- Strong experience with inventory control, including cycle counts and stock accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize workload
- Forklift experience (counterbalance required; certification preferred)
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Preferred Assets
- Experience with Class 8 truck and trailer parts (OEM & aftermarket)
- Familiarity with VMRS coding
- Experience using DMS/ERP systems (Karmak, CDK, ADP, SAP, or similar)
