Summary
We are seeking a compassionate Clinical Counsellor fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English to join our team. The Clinical Counsellor is a valued member of the Touchstone team, providing therapeutic counselling services to individuals and families experiencing social, emotional, psychological, and behavioural challenges.
Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, the Clinical Counsellor carries a clinical caseload and delivers individual, family, and group counselling interventions. This role applies a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and client-centered approach, supporting clients in identifying goals, building resilience, and improving overall functioning in a safe and respectful therapeutic environment.
The Clinical Counsellor also contributes to program development, supports client progress through ongoing evaluation, and collaborates with community partners to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Client Assessment - Conduct client interviews, gather comprehensive case histories, and identify core areas of social, emotional, psychological, and behavioural concern.
Therapeutic Intervention- Develop and implement individualized counselling plans based on client needs. Provide individual, couples, family, and group counselling services.
Case Management - Carry and manage a full clinical caseload.Monitor client progress, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and adjust plans as needed
Follow-Up and Continuity of Care - Provide post-treatment support to clients.Collaborate with other professionals when additional assessment or intervention is required.
Group Facilitation- Develop and facilitate support or psychoeducational groups for clients and/or families.
Life Skills Development -Support and mentor clients in developing practical life skills and improving daily functioning.
Documentation and Reporting –Maintain accurate clinical records, case notes, reports, and required statistics.
Community Liaison and Collaboration - Build and maintain positive working relationships with community agencies and service providers. Support client access to appropriate community resources.
Professional Practice and Compliance -Adhere to agency policies, relevant legislation, and professional standards. Represent the organization in a professional and positive manner in the community.
Team Participation and Duties - Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and training opportunities. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervision
· Ongoing clinical supervision provided by the Clinical Supervisor
· Programming oversight and support from the Director of Services
Training
· Ongoing professional development supported through supervision, training, and team collaboration
Qualifications
Core Qualifications
· Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or a related field
· Experience providing clinical counselling services, preferably including family counselling
· Demonstrated ability to assess and support individuals experiencing complex emotional
and behavioural challenges
· Fluency in Cantonese, Mandarin and English is required.
· Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Additional Requirements
· Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
· Access to a reliable vehicle
· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
· Current First Aid and CPR certification
Assets
· Fluency in additional languages
· Training or experience in play therapy and/or art therapy
· Experience working in community-based settings
· Knowledge of local community resources
Working Conditions
· Work is conducted in a dynamic environment with clients experiencing emotional distress
· Requires the ability to maintain professionalism and effectiveness in complex situations
· Outreach work and service delivery in community and non-traditional settings is required
Hours and Compensation
· 35 hours per week
· Schedule may include daytime, evening, and weekend hours based on client needs
· Wage and benefits provided in accordance with the Collective Agreement
· Wage Grid: Level 16P Paraprofessional
