Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our planting crew team during the tree planting season, spring through fall. As a Tree Planting Crew AZ Crane Truck Driver/Excavator Operator, you will play a crucial role in our team, responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of equipment and material to various project sites, as well as the operation of essential machinery for tree planting. You will be responsible for operating an AZ licensed crane truck/float, ensuring the safe loading, transportation, and precise placement of plant material. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship. You will work outdoors in a team environment, performing physically demanding tasks to ensure the successful establishment of our plants. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.
Responsibilities:
· Safe Operation of Crane Truck: Operate an AZ licensed crane truck in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
· Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the crane truck and associated equipment, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
· Loading and Unloading: Safely and efficiently load and unload trees and shrubs onto and off the crane truck using the crane or other equipment.
· Transportation: Transport trees and shrubs to various project sites in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring the plant material is secured and protected during transit.
· Site Coordination: Operate the crane to accurately lift and position trees and shrubs at designated planting locations as directed by the crew leader.
· Site Work: Assist in preparing planting sites, planting trees and all other related tasks (e.g. backfilling, staking, mulching, fertilizing).
· Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain 6 ton Mini-Excavator and associated attachments in the process of moving wire basket trees on site and preforming the site work of digging, and planting and backfilling trees.
· Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other crew members to complete planting projects efficiently and effectively.
· Following Instructions: Adhere to all planting instructions, company policies, and safety regulations.
· Communication: Communicate effectively with the crew leader and other team members regarding project progress and any issues encountered.
· Safety: Prioritize safety at all times, following all safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications:
· Valid and Clean AZ Driver's License: Must possess a valid AZ driver's license with a clean driving record and manual transmission experience. Previous crane truck experience is beneficial.
· Experience Operating Equipment: Skilled in excavator operating with precision in tight spaces, in residential and commercial landscape settings. Experience operating a rotating tilt bucket attachment is an asset.
· Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in various weather conditions, including lifting, bending, digging, and operating machinery for extended periods.
· Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and able to consistently show up for scheduled work and meet deadlines.
· Team Player: Ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a team environment.
· Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions accurately and pay attention to detail in all aspects of the job.
· Knowledge of Safety Procedures: Understanding and adherence to workplace safety regulations and best practices.
· Experience in Landscaping or Horticulture (Preferred but not required): Previous experience in landscaping, horticulture, or a related field is an asset.
Working Conditions:
· Work is primarily outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
· Requires physical exertion, including lifting, carrying, and digging.
· Involves travel to various project sites throughout the Georgian Triangle and surrounding region.
· Safety precautions must be followed at all times.
