Garland Commercial Ranges is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer II!
Under moderate supervision, the Manufacturing Engineer provides day-to-day support to production on Manufacturing Engineering-related matters to ensure availability for assembly processes and equipment to collaborate on Production’s metrics & goal achievement, meeting the applicable Safety, Quality, Health & Environmental and Human Resources policies and procedures.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineer III, this position is based in our Mississauga, Ontario facility. This is a full-time, permanent role that is an addition to headcount.
Major Accountability:

Ensures plant processes are properly documented from work instructions through completion of drawings

Works to continuously improve processes by using Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma tools

Ensures Product Structures are correct
-
Ensures assembly times are monitored and documented, and related issues tracked, to provide input on needed improvements
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
-
Reviews Bills of Materials (Product Structures) and drawings. Prepares and revises work instructions for Manufacturing while interacting with hourly employees and office personnel.

Works on special projects, including shop efficiency improvements, line balancing, equipment justification, and manufacturing jigs/fixtures. Conducts feasibility studies, manpower allocation plans, and estimates costs for assemblies and in-house manufactured parts. Performs analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components.

Supports Lean Initiatives throughout the plant, identifies potential areas for improvement. Working cross-functionally with other team members, has primary responsibility for process design and modifications. Continuously improving the workflow and procedures in the assembly of equipment

Researches, sources, and documents proposals for new equipment and manufacturing methods. Implements solutions when approved

Performs role on Safety Incident Investigation Teams, as needed. Conducts safety inspections and tasks as required. Creating Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
Qualifications

Specialized Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
-
Experience with Autodesk 2015 2D and 3D; exposure/certified in LEAN manufacturing and/or Six Sigma.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel).

Good interpersonal skills to influence team members.

Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering.

2-4 years of experience
-
6 years of experience in lieu of a degree

Working Conditions

Mainly plant setting with some office setting work.

Requires routine mobility throughout the facility.

May be required to work off-schedule hours to meet goals and objectives.

The work and order flow require flexibility with ongoing planning revisions.
