About the Role
GRW is hiring a Certified ACI Shotcrete Nozzleman to support field operations on geohazard mitigation and slope stabilization projects. This is a physically demanding, hands-on role working outdoors in remote and challenging environments. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, reliable, and experienced with rock drilling and rope access work.
Applicants must hold a valid ACI (American Concrete Institute) Shotcrete Nozzleman certification
Key Responsibilities
- Operate shotcrete equipment and apply dry mix shotcrete to rock faces and slopes in accordance with ACI standards and project specifications.
- Control thickness, alignment, and finish of applied shotcrete while managing rebound and waste material.
- Direct the shotcrete pump operator regarding mix consistency, flow, and air pressure adjustments.
- Perform thorough pre- and post-session washdowns and maintenance of nozzles, hoses, and shotcrete lines.
- Inspect, maintain, and use equipment properly and safely
- Maintain and care for all tools and equipment with a high degree of attention
- Follow all GRW safety rules, site procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Attend daily safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Review onsite documentation as required
- Report all safety concerns, incidents, and accidents to the Site Supervisor immediately
- Perform duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor and in accordance with jobsite requirements
- Fulfill responsibilities of a rope access worker/technician as detailed in SPRAT Safe Practices for Rope Access Work
Required Experience
- Valid ACI (American Concrete Institute) Shotcrete Nozzleman certification
- 1+ year operating pneumatic/hydraulic rock drills, including top hammer and DTH hammer drills
- Experience with soil nail installation
- Experience running a grout plant
- Familiar with reading engineered drawings
Assets (Preferred)
- IRATA or SPRAT Rope Access Certification (Level 1 or higher)
- Casing drilling experience
- Experience running a grout plant
- Experience running Excavator mounted drill rigs
Skills & Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
- Ability to work on steep slopes in a rope access harness for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in extreme environments
- Able to safely navigate active construction sites
- Must be physically fit and able to perform strenuous work
- Must be capable of working safely at heights and around heavy machinery
- Reliable, able to take direction from supervisors, and demonstrate safe work habits
- Team-oriented and inherently safety conscious
- Calm under pressure, even in severe circumstances
- Must not have an unreasonable fear of heights
- Strong organization skills and commitment to keeping the jobsite, vehicles, and equipment clean and tidy
- Willing and able to assist with other project tasks when required
Reporting Structure
This position reports to the Site Supervisor, who reports to the GRW Operations Manager.
