Experienced Concrete Finisher — Residential Flatwork

Bizzy B Construction is hiring 1 highly experienced concrete finishers for residential flatwork in Winnipeg and surrounding areas.
We specialize in driveways, garage pads, sidewalks, patios, coloured concrete, stamped concrete, and detailed residential flatwork. We are a small, busy, quality-focused crew with high standards for clean work, sharp detail, and efficient production.
This is not an entry-level labourer position. We are looking for experienced concrete workers who can contribute to the full job from prep to finish.
Job Duties
You will be expected to help with:
- Setting, bracing, and stripping forms
- Checking grades and preparing subgrade/base
- Placing, grading, compacting, and levelling gravel
- Installing and tying rebar grids
- Raking concrete properly during pours
- Pulling concrete back for the screed and supporting the finishing crew
- Screeding, bull floating, magging, edging, jointing, brooming, and hand finishing
- Detail work around edges, garage floors, drains, steps, sidewalks, and transitions
- Assisting with coloured and stamped concrete when required
- Cutting control joints
- Keeping job sites clean, organized, and safe
- Loading, unloading, cleaning, and organizing tools/equipment
Requirements
Applicants must have strong experience with:
- Residential flatwork
- Concrete finishing
- Forming
- Base prep
- Rebar installation
- Screeding and bull floating
- Broom finishing
- Edging and jointing
- Working in a fast-paced concrete crew
Experience with coloured concrete, stamped concrete, exposed aggregate, garage pads, driveways, and decorative flatwork is a strong asset.
You must be reliable, physically capable of long outdoor days, able to take direction from a foreman, and able to work well with a crew.
Please do not apply if you only have basic labour experience, need to be trained from scratch, cannot finish concrete to a high standard, or cannot keep pace with a production concrete crew.
We are willing to pay good money for skilled people, but the skill has to be real.
On-Site Skill Evaluation
Selected applicants may be invited for a paid on-site skill evaluation during an active workday before a full position is offered. This allows us to see your actual ability with prep, forming, placing, raking, finishing, teamwork, and attention to detail.
Schedule
- Full-time seasonal work
- Typical season: May to November
- 50–65 hours/week during peak season
- Early starts and long days during good weather windows
- Work is weather-dependent
Pay
$30–$37/hour, based on proven ability.
Higher-end pay is for experienced finishers who can demonstrate strong finishing skill, full-scope concrete knowledge, reliability, pace, and quality workmanship.
Additional Opportunities
Winter snow removal work may be available for the right candidates, including skid steer, plow truck, loader, and snow site support.
