About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on, resourceful, and detail-oriented User Study Field Moderator (Technical On-Site Moderator) to drive on-field user study research testing. In this role, you will manage workflow deployment, venue staging, and technical logistics across international sites. Acting as our "boots-on-the-ground" moderator, you will bridge the gap between remote development teams and physical test locations.
Deployment Structure:
Phase 1: 2 Weeks of On-Site Training in the USA
Phase 2: 3-Week Field Study Execution in Vancouver, BC, Canada (with possible extensions )
All travel expenses, lodging, and accommodation will be fully covered by the client.
Key Responsibilities
Global Collections & Field Operations: Execute user study protocol data collections across international test sites according to precise guidelines.
Hands-On Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and endpoint issues on-site. Utilize standard escalation procedures, communication channels, and bug-triaging processes.
Command-Line Operations: Utilize CLI environments (Linux, Windows, macOS) for system configuration, script execution, and real-time troubleshooting.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate seamlessly with on-site field teams, remote project managers, IT security, and key stakeholders to ensure site implementations meet strict standards and timeline commitments.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain precise asset inventories, document site-specific technical configurations, and deliver daily status updates to leadership.
Asset & Inventory Management: Maintain strict tracking, auditing, and secure handling of prototype hardware and technical assets during transport and international collection phases.
Communication & Escalation: Provide daily operational status updates. Proactively identify potential bottlenecks, escalate conflicts, and deploy contingency plans as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 3+ years in technical support, site-lead/field operational management, hardware development support, or IT operations.
Technical & Hardware Aptitude: Strong background in hardware troubleshooting with a solid understanding of personal tech devices (e.g., wearables, smartphones, tablets).
CLI Proficiency: Comfortable navigating, configuring, and troubleshooting systems via command-line interfaces (Bash, PowerShell, or Command Prompt).
Global Mobility & Passport: Must have no travel restrictions, hold a valid passport, and be fully willing/able to travel to the US for training and immediately deploy to Vancouver (with future flexibility for international phases in Singapore, India, or other global sites).
Autonomous Problem Solving: Proven ability to work independently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with minimal direct supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep familiarity with personal device ecosystems and mobile operating systems (Android, iOS/macOS, Windows).
Relevant IT or technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Linux+).
Prior experience managing on-site contractors or field personnel.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
