Overview
The Public Works Equipment Operator 2 is a vital role responsible for operating and maintaining heavy machinery used in municipal construction, maintenance, and public works projects. This position requires skilled operation of various types of construction equipment, including grader, dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and snow plow. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical knowledge and experience with heavy equipment operation to support infrastructure development and public safety initiatives. Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery such as grader, dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and snow plow to perform construction and maintenance tasks.
- Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Assist in the excavation, grading, lifting, and moving of materials for public works projects.
- Support road repairs, drainage improvements, and other infrastructure projects by safely handling construction equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for oneself and colleagues.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and according to specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment such as grader, dozers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and snow plow.
- Mechanical knowledge related to the maintenance and troubleshooting of heavy machinery.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (DZ)
- Knowledge of municipal practices, safety standards, and environmental regulations related to public works projects.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift heavy loads as required.
