This is a seasonal-temporary position from July 6 to August 29, 2026.
This position will support the following lodge services:
- Maintenance Assistance with Maintenance Supervisor/Management Team – General Support (temporary, full-time).
- Reports to Maintenance Supervisor and/or Site Manager and comply with Accommodation Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code of Alberta and other relevant legislation for all Lodge departments.
Job Duties
Specific duties and responsibilities of this position shall include but not be limited to the following:
General Maintenance: Perform maintenance tasks under the supervision and direction of the Maintenance Supervisor across the facility (inside the building and yards outside). Assist with preventative maintenance program. Identify and report maintenance issues inclusive of hazards to the supervisor/manager. Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and maintained properly. Complete painting projects and touch-ups in both indoor and outdoor areas, as requested. Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and priming as required. Water flowers, plants and grass, inclusive of weeding and fertilizing as requested/required. Assist in maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment. Handing and usage of chemicals safely. Assemble, fix and/or repair items. Collect and dispose of garbage and recycling appropriately. Other duties as assigned.
Logistics, Inventory & Facility Support: Load and unload materials, furniture, and equipment. Move, deliver, and set up furniture for rooms, special events and facility needs. Support inventory management, including organizing supplies and tracking stock/inventory. Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing goods. Complete forms and data entry as required. Perform landscaping and clean-up.

Qualifications
Basic Maintenance Knowledge: Familiarity with general maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting. Experience using a variety of hand and power tools is preferred.
Adaptability & Flexibility: Willingness to take on a variety of tasks and respond to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Attention to Detail: Ability to complete tasks thoroughly, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Customer Service: Ability to interact in a friendly, respectful, and inclusive manner.
Organizational skills: Strong organization and planning skills.
Problem Solving: Skilled at problem solving and being adaptive to a changing environment.
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) valid certification would be an asset.
Be aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job.
Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) on the start date of the job.
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada or person to whom refugee status has been conferred.
Experience with seniors an asset.
Office and/or activity experience an asset.

Physical Requirements
Ability to meet the physical requirements including:
Carrying/transporting objects up to maximum 45 lbs.
Bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, stretching
Pushing and pulling up to maximum 80 lbs.
The role requires the ability to endure frequent periods of walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, as well as safely lifting or moving heavy objects while performing maintenance duties.
Employees are required to wear appropriate work attire including T-shirts or work shirts (short or long-sleeved), jeans, work pants, or coveralls. Steel-toed footwear is required for safety. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) - visibility vest, earmuffs/plugs, gloves and safety glasses when required for the tasks at hand in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code of Alberta.
Occupational Job Hazards
Transporting of carts and dollies can cause overexertion and exposure to pinch points which may result in strains, sprains or falls, and fingers or crushed limbs or hand.
Obstructions in walkways, including cables, boxes, crates, bins, equipment can result in trips.
Working with employees, residents and in common areas may result in exposure to bacteria, fungi, viruses, bodily fluid increasing risk of acquiring illness and/or infection.
Exposure to chemicals which could result in skin reactions or respiratory illness.
Exposure to Electrical equipment, cords and outlets in common areas and resident units/rooms increase risk of exposure to burns and electrical shock.
Sitting for prolonged periods of time, repetitive manual tasks, bending and reaching can increase forces on muscles and tendons contributing to fatigue or musculoskeletal strain.
Conditions of Employment
Anticipated employment start date is July 6, 2026.
Full-time (35 hours per week). Temporary, full-time contract (eight weeks).
Salary: $21.00 per hour.
This position may be partially funded by Canada Summer Jobs Grant.

This position is based at Homestead Senior Citizens’ Lodge located at 5253 – 46 Avenue in Vegreville, Alberta. Work will be in person.
Work hours are Monday to Friday (exempt are statutory holidays) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with two 15-minute breaks paid and an unpaid 30-minute lunch (we provide your breakfast and lunch inclusive of beverages if you stay on site).
This is a temporary position that may start July 6, 2026, and end August 29, 2026.
