Addictions and Mental Health Access 24/7 is an exciting new opportunity to offer a centralized and integrated intake using a “front door” location at the Edmonton Community Health Hub North. Reporting to the Unit Manager and under the direction of the Program Manager for Urgent Services, the Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse - Shift Coordinator functions in the context of a multi-disciplinary team that provides quality, client focused, recovery based, concurrent capable, culturally appropriate care to those seeking assistance/services within Addictions and Mental Health. The RN/RPN - Coordinator role is responsible for the coordination of day-to-day services within AMH Access 24/7. This includes prioritizing and coordinating care based upon demands, providing clinical support and appropriate interventions. The RN/RPN performs the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention for persons experiencing significant mental health and addictions difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
Working knowledge of services with AMH Access 24/7 (Call Center, Outreach, Urgent Psychiatry, SW, AC, PACT, RPACT, Divisional Support) - the ability to coordinate based upon identified needs within program and client/family. A good working knowledge with external partners - Edmonton Police, Emergency Medical Services and Royal Canadian Mounted Police) and how they work within AMH Access 24/7. Ability to prioritize and organize multiple demands and inquiries. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a fast paced environment. Minimum of 3 years’ of relevant mental health experience. A minimum of 3 years direct crisis experience, preferably in a community setting. Formal clinical training in triage, intervention, stabilization and case management skills, preferably in a community setting. Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments. Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license as work-related travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
