Sun Shade Co. is looking for a Production Assistant (Industrial Sewing) to join our growing team.
This is not just a job moving fabric around the shop.
You'll work directly with our Sewing Specialist, helping manufacture custom commercial shade sails that are installed in parks, schools, municipalities, and commercial spaces across Canada.
We're not necessarily looking for someone who already knows how to sew.
We're looking for someone who wants to learn.
You'll start by assisting with laying out large fabric panels, measuring, cutting, moving materials, preparing projects for sewing, and helping keep production moving efficiently. As your skills develop, you'll have the opportunity to learn industrial sewing and grow into a Sewing Specialist.
More importantly, we're looking for the right person.

What You'll Do
- Assist with laying out and preparing large fabric panels
- Measure and cut materials accurately
- Move and organize fabric throughout production
- Prepare projects for sewing
- Assist with quality control and final inspection
- Help keep the sewing department clean and organized
- Learn industrial sewing techniques and production methods
What You Need
- A willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail

- Ability to work independently while also being part of a team
- Comfortable working with large pieces of fabric
- Reliable, punctual, and motivated
- Reliable transportation to and from our shop
Nice to Have
- Previous sewing experience
- Manufacturing or production experience
- Experience working with textiles, upholstery, marine canvas, awnings, or similar products
- Experience using measuring tools or reading drawings

Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour
