This role supports clients in developing life skills, achieving personal goals, and accessing community resources. The ideal candidate provides consistent structure, clear expectations, and positive behaviour support to individuals with mental health, behavioural, or environmental challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in assessments, goal setting, and program planning, including the development of Individualized Support Plans.
- Evaluate individual needs and create both short- and long-term plans with input from clients and their support networks.
- Support individuals to increase independence in their homes and community.
- Assist with daily life skills, social skills, and behaviour management.
- Teach and support with activities such as hygiene, basic cooking, money management, shopping, and safety skills.
- Facilitate physical, recreational, educational, social, and vocational activities.
- Accompany or transport individuals to appointments and community activities.
- Recognize, respond to, and manage potential emergency situations.
- Administer medication according to established policies and procedures.
- Ensure health and safety standards are upheld at all times.
- Attend to the physical, emotional, and medical needs of children or youth (as applicable).
- Complete all required documentation accurately and promptly.
- Contribute to a positive team environment through clear communication and active participation in staff meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook (Required)
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (Required)
- Clear Social Development Check (Completed in-house)
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification (Required)
- Reliable transportation (Required)
- Minimum 19 years of age (Required)
- Current NVCI training (Asset)
- Food Safe certification (Asset, not required)
