We are seeking a passionate and reliable Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) to join our Children’s House team.
Position Overview
The Early Childhood Assistant supports the RECE and classroom team in delivering a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. This role is essential in maintaining classroom flow, supporting daily routines, and fostering positive relationships with students and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of Montessori-inspired classroom activities and daily routines
- Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing and maintaining an organized, clean, and inviting classroom environment.
- Engage children in small group and one-on-one learning experiences.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining a clean, organized, and stimulating learning environment
- Supervise children to ensure safety and well-being at all times
- Support children’s social, emotional, and behavioral development
- Assist with snack/lunch routines, transitions, outdoor play, and rest periods
- Communicate professionally with team members and contribute to a collaborative work culture
- Build positive relationships with families by greeting them warmly and maintaining confidentiality.
- Maintain compliance with Ministry of Education licensing requirements and health & safety standards
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
- ECA certification (or working toward completion)
- Good working knowledge of “How Does Learning Happen” and/or Montessori Diploma
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A nurturing, patient, and team-oriented approach
- Previous experience in a licensed childcare setting is an asset
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
