Position Summary
The Journeyman/woman Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations. This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, and the skills to complete work independently or as part of a team on residential, commercial, and institutional projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain water supply, drainage, heating, and plumbing systems.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and requirements.
- Assemble, install, and secure pipes, fittings, valves, and fixtures using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Conduct tests on plumbing systems for leaks and proper functionality.
- Perform preventive maintenance and respond to service calls as required.
- Adhere to all building codes, safety procedures, and company standards.
- Collaborate with apprentices, tradespeople, and project teams to ensure high-quality results.
- Complete daily reports, time sheets, and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Mentor and train plumbing apprentices when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Journeyman/woman Plumber Certification (Red Seal or Provincial equivalent).
- Current Ontario Certificate of Qualification (306A – Plumber).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial, institutional, and/or residential plumbing.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Ability to troubleshoot plumbing systems and resolve issues efficiently.
- Physically fit to lift materials and work in various environments (indoors, outdoors, confined spaces, heights).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
- Work performed on construction sites, client facilities, and/or service environments.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and work environments.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
- Overtime, evening, or weekend work may be required depending on project deadlines.
