Overview
Saltbox Cafe is looking for someone to support the owner and a small team of baristas in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: food preparation, cashier and customer service, inventory control, cleaning, and stocking supplies.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of simple food items according to established recipes
- Operate a POS system and carry out cash transactions
- Provide excellent customer service by taking orders, answering questions, and assisting guests with their selections
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all areas of the cafe
- Assist with Inventory Control
- Some heavy lifting involved (10 kilos or so)
- Physically capable to go up and down stairs several times per day
Required Skills
- The candidate must be genuinely friendly and sincerely enjoy engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- The candidate must love coffee and be willing to learn about all things coffee.
- The candidate must be reliable. Lateness and missed shifts without a valid reason will not be tolerated.
- The candidate must have their Food Handlers Certification or be willing to get it within two weeks of starting work.
- The candidate must be able to work Saturday and Sunday (daytime hours) plus one or two shifts during the week. Hours will range between 10 and 24 hours per week, with the opportunity to fill in for staff as needed.
- Experience working in the food service industry is a bonus.
- Please note: This is not a summer job. Students returning to university or college in the fall will not be considered for this position.
Pay: From $17.20 per hour
