Purchasing & Inventory
Since 1978, Eddie’s Hang-Up Display Ltd. has been a trusted supplier to Canadian retailers, providing store fixtures, displays and merchandising solutions from our locations in Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto.
We are seeking an individual with experience in Purchasing & Inventory control to join our team in a full-time position.
This is a key role within our organization and requires someone who is highly organized, confident in their decision-making and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have strong communication and negotiation skills, excellent attention to detail and a demonstrated work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Communicate and negotiate directly with vendors, suppliers and factories worldwide
- Manage inventory levels with a strong focus on usage, inventory turns and maintaining appropriate stock levels
- Coordinate special-order quotations, purchasing and delivery deadlines
- Negotiate pricing, quantities, terms and purchasing agreements
- Analyze purchasing and sales patterns to anticipate future inventory requirements
- Source and evaluate new suppliers, products and factories
- Respond proactively to changes in demand, sales trends, margins and profitability
- Monitor landed costs and identify opportunities to improve purchasing and freight costs
- Negotiate freight rates and work closely with logistics providers
- Develop and maintain strong, professional, long-term relationships with suppliers and vendors
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of purchasing, inventory control and/or buying experience
- Purchasing certification, university degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
- Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency with MS Excel
- Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven negotiation skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
- Importing, logistics and international purchasing experience is strongly preferred
