Overview:
Theralase® Technologies Inc. (“Theralase® or “Company”) is a publicly traded Canadian federal corporation (TSXV: TLT; OTCQB: TLTFF) focused on the destruction of cancer, bacteria and viruses consisting of two primary divisions:
1) Drug Division – Preclinical research and clinical development of energy-activated small molecules and the energy systems that activate them to safely and effectively destroy various cancers, bacteria and viruses.
2) Device Division - Manufacturer and distributer of proprietary super-pulsed Cool Laser Therapy (“CLT”) medical lasers, primarily in Canada and the United States, for the treatment of knee pain, and in off-label use, treatment of numerous nerve, muscle and joint conditions. In addition, the Device Division designs and manufactures proprietary medical laser systems used to activate the small molecules in the Drug Division.

Job Description:
HRMHR
- Researching, advertising, coordinating, managing and successfully completing the recruitment process per the President and Chief Executive Officer’s direction
- Negotiating salaries and benefits with new hires / consultants
- Creating training programs for new hires / consultants
- Onboarding new hires
- Managing office access, telephone extension, e-mail, server access and Virtual Private Network (“VPN”) access via external Information Technology (“IT”) firm
- Coordination with managers to determine and document specific employee roles and responsibilities, as well as weekly, monthly and annual objectives
- Track performance to those objectives on a weekly, monthly and annual basis for performance review analysis
- Strong working knowledge of federal, provincial/state, and local labor laws, health and safety standards and employment equity
- Familiarity with modern Human Resources Information Systems (“HRIS”), Applicant Tracking Systems (“ATS”) and payroll administration
- Using HR software to automate processes and monitor employee Key Performance Indicators (“KPIs”)
- Compilation, annual updating and distribution of employee handbook
- Tracking and handling of employee requests for vacation, leave and other benefits
- Travel Expense Reports (“TERs”) review with subsequent approval by management and finance
- Addressing employee concerns, issues and investigating complaints
- Ensuring compliance with labour laws, company policy and procedures
- Coordinating with corporate employment law counsel in the hiring and termination of employees
- Conducting background and resume verification (e.g.: academic, work experience, corporate references, criminal record)
- Ensuring health and safety guidelines are implemented and followed
- Ensuring fairness throughout disciplinary proceedings, warnings or terminations
- Conducting exit interviews, non-disclosure agreements, termination, employment and severance packages
- Preparing annual Performance Reviews (“PRs”) for all employees / consultants for review and approval by responsible managers and executive management
- Administering annual / bi-annual performance increases
- Organizing company social, birthday, BBQ and statutory holiday events
- Administering monthly employee reward and incentive programs within budget (e.g.: sporting events, concerts, artistic events)
- Management and procurement of office, corporate, cleaning and kitchen supplies
- A firm commitment to discretion, confidentiality and professional integrity
A full-time, in-office position as the Company’s headquarters located in midtown Toronto, easily accessible via public transit.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources Management
- Certified Human Resources Professional (“CHRP”) or Certified Human Resources Leader (“CHRL”) designation or in progress
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and requirements
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and build positive relationships proactively with employees, senior managers, executive management and directors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g.: Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher)
Responsibilities:
- Act as primary point of HR contact for all senior and executive managers and employees in the areas of employee relations, change management, performance management, employee engagement and best practices
- Manage best-in-class recruitment; including: researching, advertising, coordinating and completing the interview process, processing employment contracts and conducting employee on-boarding
- Manage employee records and ensure compliance
- Manage the annual PR process with executive management
Compensation:
- $85,000 to $115,000 base, full-time salary, commensurate with experience
- Employee benefits and stock options (subject to board of director’s approval)
