Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager, Enterprise Systems & Technology, the Junior BI Developer, supports the development, maintenance, and enhancement of business applications, databases, and business intelligence solutions. The successful candidate will work with Microsoft Azure, SQL Server, Excel, and other business systems to develop technical solutions, automate processes, improve reporting, and support data-driven decision-making. This role will leverage AI solutions to support and enhance the organizations strategic goals. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience across software development, cloud technologies, data integration, and business intelligence.
This position will be located in office at our head office at 7 Green Acres Lane, Navin, MB. Remote or hybrid work are not available for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and support internal applications and software solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain reports, dashboards, and business intelligence solutions.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects within Microsoft SQL Server.
- Support Microsoft Azure cloud services, applications, and databases.
- Assist with data integration, ETL processes, and migration activities across multiple business systems.
- Utilize AI tools to accelerate coding, generate test cases, and create technical documentation.
- Assist in developing, training, and fine-tuning AI models
- Work with management to integrate conversational AI, APIs into enterprise systems.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Create and maintain automated reports and data models using Excel and other reporting tools.
- Collaborate with business users to identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
- Troubleshoot application, database, and reporting issues.
- Participate in software testing, deployment, and documentation.
- Monitor application and database performance and recommend enhancements.
- Support system integrations using APIs and other integration technologies.
- Maintain technical documentation, user guides, and development standards.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- 0–2 years of experience in software development, database development, or business intelligence (co-op or internship experience considered).
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and SQL query development.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, or VBA is an asset.
- Basic programming knowledge (C#, .NET, Python, Blazor, JavaScript, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills and a proven desire to adopt and responsibly use AI-powered workflows.
- Understanding of relational databases and data modeling principles.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI or other business intelligence platforms.
- Exposure to Azure DevOps, Azure Data Factory, or Microsoft Fabric.
- Knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience working with ERP, CRM, or other enterprise business systems.
- Understanding of REST APIs and system integrations.
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or related Microsoft certifications are an asset.
