We are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Engine & Hydraulic Tool Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain portable gas-powered and hydraulic tools. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience working with small engines and hydraulic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in portable gas and hydraulic tools
- Repair and service small gas engines (2-stroke and 4-stroke)
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections
- Test equipment after repair to ensure safe and proper operation
- Identify worn or defective components and recommend replacements
- Follow safety procedures and manufacturer specifications
Tools & Equipment Serviced
A range of railroad specific tools, such as:
- Portable gas-powered tools
- Hydraulic power packs and tools
- Hoses, fittings, and control valves
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience repairing small engines and/or hydraulic tools
- Strong understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
- Experience with diagnostic tools and hand tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license (preferred)
Preferred Experience
- Small engine certification or mechanical trade training
- Experience with brands such as Honda, Stihl, Husqvarna, Briggs & Stratton, Wacker Neuson, or similar
- Welding or fabrication skills (an asset)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
