Position Summary:
The Woodworking Associate position is an integral part of Stance’s delivery of custom wood and plywood products, including drum tables, that consistently meet or exceed our customers’ requirements. The position requires a depth of woodworking experience and strong adaptability, communication, and problem solving skills to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Hourly range: $25 to $30 per hour
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Follow standard work order processes and procedures including maintaining detailed, accurate and timely records and following all quality standards.
- Read and interpret shop drawings for each custom order raising issues if standard processes or materials may need to be modified
- Build case goods and other Stance products including:
- Shape surfaces or edges of wood, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
- Prepare, cut, bond and seam laminate, then trim and file to meet finish standards
- Trim joints and fit parts/subassemblies to form complete units and reinforce joints
- General inspection of parts to ensure quality and identify issue
- Take and record accurate measurements
- Assist other areas assembling plywood boxes and wood furniture products
- Participate with colleagues and management in creative problem solving to meet customer requirements and quality standards.
- Affix labels to the product as necessary
- Lift 30-40lbs intermittently throughout workday
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all health and safety standards
- Other duties as required
As our ideal candidate, you’ll have/be:
- 3-5 years of woodworking experience, in carpentry or cabinetry
- Demonstrated mechanical capabilities/aptitude
- Excellent attention to detail
- Experience constructing and repairing furniture, cabinets or related products of wood, plywood using carpenter's hand tools/air tools/power tools, etc.
- Experience operating woodworking machines, such as power saws and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components
- Proven ability to read and interpret various types of blueprints and drawings
- Ability to follow accurately complex instructions and processes with many steps
- Excellent hand eye coordination
- Enthusiastic team player with a positive attitude & desire to learn
- Commitment to personal safety and safety of coworkers
- Forklift certification and/ or CNC experience considered an asset
