Our clinic is expanding and we are seeking an Art Therapist or Expressive Arts Psychotherapist to join our growing team in Owen Sound, Ontario.
About Our Clinic
Founded by Shawna Banville, Registered Art Psychotherapist, our clinic was created with the vision of offering whole brain approaches to mental health care — where expressive arts, trauma informed, somatic and sensory processing, are integral therapy approaches.
In addition to creative arts therapy approaches, our therapists provide a wide range of additional client centered evidence-based therapy approaches including such approaches as: relational, psychodynamic, motivational interviewing, strength based, family systems, mindfulness, DBT, CBT, attachment informed, compassionate inquiry informed, mindfulness and others. We provide services for adults, children, families, and groups both in person at our clinic in Owen Sound as well as virtually and are currently expanding to welcome additional creative clinicians to meet community demand.
Position Overview
- Start Date: March 3rd, 2026
- Location: Owen Sound, Ontario
- Caseload: Building collaboratively; existing clients are an asset. Expectation 10 + 1hr client sessions per week

What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Art Psychotherapist or Expressive Arts Psychotherapist to join our mental health team. The ideal candidate will provide therapeutic services to diverse patient populations, including children and adolescents, in a supportive and professional environment. This role involves consultations with prospective clients, assessments, developing individualized treatment plans to promote mental well-being and emotional resilience, and providing individual and group therapy sessions. The Art Psychotherapist/Expressive Arts Psychotherapist will play a vital role in delivering client-centered care, utilizing evidence-based practices, and supporting clients through their mental health journeys.
- Art Therapist, Expressive Arts Therapist, or Psychotherapist (Registered or Qualifying) in good standing with CRPO with additional training in creative approaches
- Must maintain a Psychology Today profile
- Interest or training in creative, sensory, and experiential modalities — including visual arts, music, movement, sensory motor and/or play therapy
- Additional specialized training in trauma-informed, client-centered evidence based practices considered an asset (examples: EMDR, DBT, CBT, Somatic approaches, Compassionate Inquiry, Family Systems, Attachment informed, Psychodynamic, etc.)
- Indigenous Cultural Sensitivity Training-an asset
- Passion for creative collaboration, professional integrity, and community connection
- Group and workshop facilitation considered an asset
- Experience working with children, families and couples an asset
- Experience supporting neuro diverse populations an asset
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and/or art-based assessments, as well as risk assessments for individuals, couples of families across various age groups.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans tailored to each client's needs, incorporating therapeutic modalities suitable for population served.
- Provide individual, group, or family therapy sessions both in person at the office and virtually-aimed at addressing a wide range of challenges and mental health issues (such as anxiety, depression, behavioral disorders, separation and divorce, neurodivergence, grief and loss, bullying, 2SLGBTQ++ challenges, life transitions, and trauma).
- Collaborate with client care teams (may include medical staff, case managers, CAS, and educators etc.) to coordinate comprehensive client care.
- Maintain detailed documentation of client progress, treatment outcomes, and clinical notes in compliance with college regulations.
- Engage in ongoing research and data collection to inform best practices and improve therapeutic interventions.
- Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Stay current with developments in the field of psychotherapy through continuous professional development.
- Contribute to a warm, creative and collaborative team environment
Compensation
We offer a tiered income split pay structure for our contract associates with percentage of income from sessions collected by the clinic for administration fees. Your income percentage increases as your caseload grows:
For fully registered Psychotherapists:
- 5–11 client sessions/week: 60% associate (Approximately $99 per client session )| 40% to clinic for administration fees+ hst
- 12–20+ client sessions/week: Compensation increases to 65% associate (Approximately $107 per session)| 35% clinic + hst for administration fees, once associate consistently demonstrates 12+ client sessions per week
- Associates invoice the clinic and are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
For Qualifying Art Psychotherapists/Expressive Arts Psychotherapists:
- We offer 50% of client sessions: (Approximately $82 per client session) with 50% +hst to the clinic for administration fees and clinical support.
