Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Journeyman or Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of on‑road and off‑road heavy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation across all projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and off‑road equipment
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, engine, and drivetrain systems
- Complete CVIP‑level inspections (if certified)
- Conduct preventative maintenance and document all work performed
- Respond to field service calls as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Communicate repair needs and timelines with supervisors and operators
- Follow all company safety policies and industry standards
- Proven experience as a mechanic, with specific expertise in heavy equipment repair preferred.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems related to heavy machinery.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic (Red Seal) or Registered Apprentice (1st–4th year)
- Experience with on‑road trucks, construction equipment, and/or earthmoving machinery
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence; Class 1 or 3 is an asset
- Ability to work independently and in varying weather conditions
- Field service experience is an asset
- CVIP certification is an asset (for Journeyman applicants)
