ECE Teacher - Inspire Montessori School (1210 Castlemore Ave)
Inspire Montessori School, located in Markham, is seeking passionate and experienced Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) for our toddler/Precasa class and preschool/Casa class. We are looking for educators who are dedicated to fostering a warm, nurturing, and enriching Montessori environment.
Start Date will be around July or September
Position: Permanent Full-Time and Part-Time Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
Class: Toddler/Pre-Casa (15 months to 2.5 years) or Casa (2.5 years to 6 years)
The selected candidate will serve as one of the main educators in the classroom, working collaboratively with a Co-Teacher to provide high-quality Montessori education and care.
Qualifications:
- Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE certification is required for ECE positions).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with toddlers, pre-casa, or preschool-aged children (ages 15 months to 6 years).
- Montessori training/experience is highly valued, with strong knowledge of Montessori principles and programming being an asset.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to effectively manage classroom dynamics and child development challenges.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-teaching model, contributing to a cohesive and supportive classroom.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for effective communication with children, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification (must have or be willing to obtain).
- Vulnerable Sector Check (required upon hire).
- Up-to-date health and immunization records, including 2-Step TB test and proof of immunizations (Tetanus, MMR).
- Bilingualism (French proficiency) and the ability to teach piano are assets but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Developmentally Appropriate Programs:
- Plan, organize, and deliver engaging activities that support the cognitive, emotional, physical, and social development of children in alignment with the Montessori method and/or the Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT) framework.
- Create a Safe, Nurturing, and Stimulating Environment:
- Foster a warm, safe, and inviting atmosphere that encourages exploration and learning, while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of each child.
- Individualized Learning Support:
- Observe, document, and assess children's development, interests, and challenges. Customize learning activities and interventions to meet the unique needs of each child, providing tailored support to enhance their growth.
- Promote Positive Social and Emotional Development:
- Model and teach appropriate social behaviors, encouraging positive interaction, self-regulation, and conflict resolution among children.
- Family Communication and Partnership:
- Maintain ongoing, transparent communication with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress, daily activities, and addressing any concerns or special requirements.
- Ensure Compliance with Health, Safety, and Regulatory Guidelines:
- Adhere to and enforce all policies regarding hygiene, safety, and emergency preparedness. Ensure full compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act and other relevant legislation.
- Maintain Accurate Documentation and Records:
- Document children’s development, attendance, and any incidents promptly and thoroughly, ensuring compliance with all program and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with Educators and Staff:
- Work closely with other educators and school staff to create a seamless learning experience, including participating in staff meetings, professional development, and contributing to a supportive team environment.
- Foster Independence and Problem-Solving Skills:
- Support the development of children’s independence, problem-solving abilities, and self-regulation by encouraging self-directed activities and guiding them in managing emotions and completing tasks.
- Prepare and Maintain Learning Materials:
- Ensure the availability of age-appropriate, engaging, and well-maintained educational materials, toys, and equipment that stimulate learning and curiosity.
