We are currently seeking a Mechanical Technician to support operations in the shop/yard, and assisting RFI Technicians in the field. This position supports our Hot Tap Technicians, B-Pressure Welders and Non-Destructive Testing Technicians, and offers the experience and training to grow your career in multiple trades or career paths.
BASIC FUNCTIONS
The Mechanical Technician performs field machining and mechanical work with minimal supervision, ensuring safe and efficient job execution from setup through completion.
Core scope includes:
- Cold cutting and beveling
- Flange facing / re-facing
- Line boring
- Pipe transitioning
- Pump base milling and alignment
- Bolting, torquing, and tensioning
- Hydro testing support
The role also includes supporting complex work scopes, guiding Mechanical Assistants, and contributing to equipment upkeep and operational improvements.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- 3–5 years of mechanical or field machining experience
- Experience in industrial or field environments preferred
- Working knowledge of machining processes (cutting, facing, boring, etc.)
- Bolting and hydro testing experience (asset)
- Ability to read basic drawings and procedures
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Physically capable of field work
- Leadership capability and teamwork skills
- Journeyman Machinist (asset)
- Commitment to safety and quality
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to Supervisor, Field Superintendent, or Operations Manager
- Provides direction to Mechanical Assistants and supports crew coordination
- Ensures adherence to company, client, and site requirements
AUTHORITY
The Mechanical Technician is authorized to:
- Perform assigned work within competency limits
- Direct assistants and support crew activities
- Organize tasks to maintain safe and efficient workflow
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and safety standards
RESPONSIBILITIES

- Execute field machining work through completion
- Guide and support Mechanical Assistants
- Coordinate job setup, execution, and teardown
- Maintain equipment readiness and reliability

DUTIES
- Perform machining tasks including cutting, beveling, facing, boring, and milling
- Carry out bolting, torquing, and tensioning work
- Support and monitor hydro/pressure testing
- Set up and align equipment for safe operation
- Review job requirements before execution
- Stage tools and materials efficiently
- Support daily field operations and crew activities
- Complete job reports and documentation
- Inspect and maintain equipment
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Communicate with team members and clients
- Assist with general duties as required
